The Bharatiya Janata Party’s parliamentary wing will meet here on May 31 when leaders of Opposition for the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will be elected.
The BJP parliamentary board on Saturday decided to call its parliamentary party meeting a day before the start of the first session of the 15th Lok Sabha. It also decided that the party’s national executive committee meeting will be held in mid-June in Delhi.
The schedule for party elections will be finalised by the executive committee. It will also decide the launch date for a fresh membership drive, general secretary Arun Jaitley said here on Saturday.
It has already been decided that senior leader L.K. Advani will continue as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The immediate battle will be for the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, where there are two senior leaders, Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley.
